SWM Spray Dryer Components and
Services B.V
The
original company Schiedamsche Werktuigen- en Machinefabriek
B.V. (name changed to SWM Spray Dryer Components and Services
B.V. beginning of year 2001) was founded in 1917 as
a trading firm in Schiedam. In the Thirties a light
engineering department was added, which soon became the
driving force behind the business.
As
from the Fifties, SWM became known especially as supplier and
manufacturer of Anhydro spray drying
plants.
In
the period 1950 – 2000 SWM has been particularly active in
engineering and supplying of turn-key processing plants and
key components for the industry. Parts of the chemical
industry and also the dairy and food industry were the target
market.
The
dairy industry was and still is an important market for
SWM.
The
increasing world-wide worries concerning the environment were
good reason for SWM aligning itself on the resultant market.
By, amongst others, designing the Rotaclean®
dust
removal filter and the Raywell unit, a plant for regenerating
solvents.
With
these plants, SWM applies the expertise acquired in the course
of time in the service of a diverse range of industries. Such
are the dairy and food industry, the timber-processing
industry and the chemicals, pigments and inks
industry.
The
still flourishing trading activities, aligned on industrial
and agricultural spray nozzles, stock breeding equipment,
veterinary instruments and animal identification systems were
accommodated in mid 1985 into a new company known as "SWM
Handel en Engineering B.V.", which operates from 2002 from the
current address Sevillaweg 110, Rotterdam.
The
production of the above mentioned product range currently has
been accommodated in a strategic alliance with a company in
the north of Holland, named WET&dry technology B.V., who
also has a broad experience in the dairy and food industry,
the timber-processing industry and the chemicals, pigments and
inks industry.
Companies
represented are:
APV
Anhydro A/S,
Denmark
Spray
drying plants and centrifugal atomizers
Brunner
AG, Switzerland
Steam air heaters, coolers, condensers etc.
SWM
Handel en Engineering B.V.
Founded
in 1985 the original, historical product range
of stock breeding equipment, veterinary instruments, animal
identification systems, agricultural and industrial spray
nozzles and oil burner nozzles has evolved over time
into a strong focus on supplying nozzles and key components
for high wear applications.
During
the mid sixties of the previous century SWM added industrial nozzles to the scope of supply. The first nozzles supplied were Spray Drying nozzles.
Before high pressure spray dry nozzles came to the market,
manufacturers of powders used to process concentrates with
wheel atomisation systems. As SWM had been producing and
installing Anhydro Spray Drying Plants in license,
the experience with the process itself had already grown over
the years, thus the exchange to from wheel atomisation to high
pressure nozzle atomisation was a logic step.
In
2001 SWM became the exclusive distributor for the Japanese
nozzle manufacturer Everloy Kyoritsu
Gokin Ltd.
for The Netherlands. Besides manufacturing nozzles,
Everloy also produces tungsten carbide. This
combination is unique in the marketplace. All other nozzle
manufacturers procure their tungsten carbide parts from other
suppliers. As Everloy masters the production and
processing of tungsten carbide, nozzles produced for high wear
applications are superior to all others available in the
market. Since 2003 Everloy appointed SWM as the distributor
for Everloy products for the Benelux
market.
The
latest development within SWM has been the strategic alliance
with a chemical engineer. The formed combination aims at
providing engineering materials for extreme wear applications.
The materials used are industrial diamond and nickel coating
highly filled with diamond particles. The latter is the latest
development in coatings. Compared to known conventional
diamond coatings, or diamond like coatings, this coating uses
natural diamond and has a very high adhesion
strength.
The
key product/market for SWM Handel en Engineering B.V. are the
industrial nozzles. We identify this market as a growing one
with high potential. The full and diverse range of companies
(Original Equipment Manufacturers and production companies) in
the Dutch and Benelux marketplace justify the possibility for
a company as SWM to be able to supply a complete range of
industrial nozzles. Therefore we are in continuous search for
new nozzles and applications and also suppliers of new types
of nozzles. This in order to be able to provide every possible
target market with a high quality and suitable
product.
